Day 13: The Pop-Falsetto Flip
From: 30 Day Beginner Course Level 2 With Camilleby Camille van Niekerk
Description:
The pop flip or falsetto flip is a favorite stylistic effect amongst many singers! It’s an abrupt transition from chest voice to head voice, resulting in something of a yodel effect.
The prerequisites to successfully “flip” are the ability to sing in chest voice and head voice on command. And because pop flips often show up around the singer’s passaggio, or point of transition from chest to head voice, you need to be comfortable going from high chest voice to low head voice.
Not everyone will be ready for exercise 2 or 3 today - stick with exercise 1 for as long as you need!

Your homework is to identify and try out a pop flip in one of those songs Camille mentioned. Lower voiced singers, we recommend Yellow or The Scientist by Coldplay; higher voiced singers, Zombie by the Cranberries is a fun one for you.
