Hello :) I am finding it hard to keep both the ribs and the lower adominals + back expanded. Trying to keep the ribs more expanded to the sides and not collapse results in less control over the other two areas and those end up less expanded vice versa ribs are less expanded when lower abdominals/ obliques etc are more expanded.
Which of these 3 major support muscles should be more expanded? and What should be the shape of expansion be?
Thank you and sorry for not great english. From alice.

Great question, Alice! Depending on who you ask, you'll get different answers. Some singers/teachers emphasize the low abs and pelvic floor, while others focus on the ribcage, and others say it's all about your back. My advice is: determine what's most effective for you! What do you feel helps you sing with the most power and freedom?

Hello Camille thank you for your reply. There was a noticeable difference in power when I kept the ribs expanded right under the breastbone + abs and back at that level. but, moving at lower level rib area + abs + back the power falls off a bit. It maybe a one off experience because I am trying to replicate it again and it seems not very relaxed. When it does work though, it is more powerful but less relaxed than the lower expansion.

I think it takes time to find a good balance between freedom and support! And it's also fluid: your level of muscle engagement will vary depending on the demands of the song or exercise.
