Hi,
I was listening to Camila Cabello's "Never Be the Same". For the pre-chorus is she singing in a mixed voice? It seems in the beginning she is in chest voice and then keeps switching throughout the song. What are some tips to help with this vocal technique?
Thanks!

The pre-chorus (starting on the lyric "nicotine") sounds mostly like head voice to me! I do agree that she's shifting registers pretty abruptly. My pop tutorial covers this in the third lesson, "Distinct registers": https://www.30daysinger.com/tutorial/how-to-sing-like-a-pop-star/4.
I covered the "pop flip" in last week's live lesson as well - this link will start directly at that point: https://youtu.be/QhH5CNabCSI?t=2876.
The general goal is to (1) be able to sing the same pitch using more than one kind of coordination (ie: sing a G4 using chest voice AND lighter head voice; you can work towards that by extending chest function up higher and head function lower) and (2) shift "gears" (registers) quickly. Learning songs like the one you mentioned would be good practice for that! If you can't find that coordination on lyrics, use syllables that help you (for example, use BUH for chest voice and HOO for head voice, as I demonstrated in the live lesson). Hope that helps!
