I've been singing for 3 years, and only recently got a vocal coach. I guess I didn't know until now that I have neck tension. And it feels like my muscles are tensed up and they won't relax no matter how many stretches I do. I'm inhaling with my diaphram correctly but I don't think I'm even using the breath, if that makes any sense. It seems that no matter how hard I try, I can't use the breath I inhale. Which puts all of the strain in my neck and now my neck muscles are really tense. It's not that it hurts when I sing, but my muscles really hurt. I've had this problem forever.

Hi Sarah,
First off, if you feel any sort of muscle pain or discomfort, it's probably best to see a doctor about that. Singing is and can be physically demanding.
If you haven't already, I suggest you take a look at some of our warmup and health tutorials. I suggest the lesson on vocal strain on this page: https://www.30daysinger.com/warmups
