Hello what do you recommend for extending the range for low notes? Is there a way to make low notes sound brighter and less gravelly/creaky? Also do you know of any good exercises to go from low register smoothly to mask resonance? Thanks 🙏

Hi, Liza! Here are my best tips for low notes:

    1. Train with a gentle glottal onset (with energetic vowels like A as in CAT or EE as in BEET)

    2. "Speak" any pitches you can't sustain

    3. Reduce your volume: careful of pushing a lot of air

    4. Think UP (so your larynx doesn't drop and give you a "woofy", overly dark sound)

    5. Just touch the low notes and work on sustaining later

As for transitioning from low middle, try sliding on an NN/NG or singing a pattern (like 135 or 13531) on something slightly nasalized like NAH (with A as in CAT).

    Hope that helps!
