So I have been working on the belting technique on youtube from 30 day singer channel and I want to ask how I should practice a technique. So when we learn a technique we first practice it and then apply it to our songs I'm pretty sure. So, what songs should we pick and also when should we start applying our techniques to our song? Like do we apply to song when we get used to the technique or right when we litteraly have it under control? Also, how long should we practice the technique for?
Thanks in advanced,
Aaron

If the technique is something fatiguing (like belting, sustaining notes, singing at a high volume, etc), then very short sessions on that specific technique are ideal. I'd recommend only working on those techniques when your voice is feeling strong and healthy.
Other techniques (like mixed registration, agility for riffs/runs, head voice, etc) can be part of your daily routine!
You can start applying a technique in your songs as soon as you've got a handle on it - that can be a great way to practice. But make sure it's in a comfortable amount; so if you're working on head voice but aren't totally comfortable with it yet, consider a song that uses a small amount of head voice (rather than the entire song). Same goes for belting: consider a slightly lower range with few sustained pitches at first.

Thanks for the Answer Camille. I have another question. Can you make like a list or something of songs that provides the belt element or like give a few male artists that belt in chest belt or mix belt. That woud be very useful.
Thanks,
Aaron

Great idea, Aaron! I'm writing myself a note to compile a list (including the link to this thread so I remember to come back and update). Thank you!

Hi, Aaron! Just checking back in to give you some male artists who belt (but aren't crazy high):
- Michael Buble
- Chris Mann
- Dan & Shay
Old school singers:
- Luther Vandross
- Peabo Bryson
- Donny Hathaway
I recommend putting a range you're currently comfortable with on https://singingcarrots.com/search and see what songs come up!
