Hey guys! I've been on vocal rest recently because I'm worried about my health. My throat constantly feels dry, no matter what. I do have allergies, GERD, and at night I have a tendency to unintentionally sleep with my mouth open. I know all these things contribute to it, but I drink plenty of water, & I can't shake the feeling, hence the vocal rest.
Within the past few days, I've done very soft humming towards my upper register, because I hear that's a good test, & aroun E4 to F4 my voice drops out. Like, enough where it scares me. It sounds like when you get a sore throat and lose your voice. It's so much AIR and no NOTE. E4 isn't out of my range, I dont feel any pain, but it dries me out, and I can't hold it. I cut in and out. I KNOW something is wrong, but I can't see a doctor right now. The hospitals where I live are packed for obvious reasons lol.
I really need to know why this could be, what to do about it, and how to avoid it in the future.
Thank you guys in advance!!

Hi, Connor! I'm sorry to hear you're having issues. Since I'm not a doctor, I really can't make that kind of assessment (and even a doctor would need to hear and/or see you to say anything definitive). Please consider making a telephone or video appointment with your doctor and letting them know what's going on! That will (hopefully) be easier and more accessible than an in-person visit at this time. This article does outline some of the more common vocal health issues, but it's no replacement for being seen by a doctor.
Wishing you luck and good health!
