Hi Camille,
I've just completed your course: How to sing in tune for beginners - part 1.
Now, I'm looking for easy songs to sing. I also watched your video, Easy Songs For Beginners, and I checked out the recommended songs for Altos and Tenors. But I didn't quite find anything I feel comfortable with or anything I connected with in terms of genre, vibe, and style.
So, one of my favorite songs is Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. I can already sing along to it in a comfortable vocal range. (give or take a little.)
Can you tell me:
1. What is the vocal range of this song (sorry to ask but I don't play an instrument, yet. Am learning piano to help train my ears and just know more about music in general).
2. What voice type is this song best suited too, would you say? Still trying to work out mine. I definitely fit in the Alto category, but I think I may be a mix of tenor (higher-end) and alto (Comfortable from C4 until I have to transition into head voice at CA).
3. And what would you say is the main genre of the song? I'm not sure about the exact genre of this one, but in general, I think I'm leaning towards soft rock and pop for the type I want to sing.
This song is right up my street, so to speak, along with artists like Tina Turner, Robbie Williams, Bonnie Tyler, Will Young, etc :)

Here's a larger list to check out, Kerry! It's a working Google Doc that I add to periodically. Not all songs have ranges listed yet but hopefully you find some more you like: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yEgkAeJ63JriRJ1eEtSv3JWMEyWK04zEezAxCrOEvwI/edit?usp=sharing
1. Vocal range is B3-C#5 (Singing Carrots is a good source for this)
2. Alto (or very high tenor)
3. 80's midtempo rock ballad / power anthem!
In general, once I find an artist that's a good fit for my voice, I exhaust their list of songs, search for similar artists (Google, Spotify, etc) and see if they've covered other songs, too. Have fun!
