Hi, Hari! What does your ear training practice currently entail?
I think what it boils down to is memorizing the sound and the feeling of consonance when you're singing in tune. In order to do that, you'll need real-time feedback from a chromatic tuner (or teacher) letting you know when you're in tune so you can associate that sound and feeling with your perception of being in tune. You might be singing sharp as a means of hearing yourself, and you're not used to "disappearing" into the piano providing your pitch, when you sing in perfect unison - I had a student recently for whom that was one issue. I myself had to be "retrained" to sing the third scale degree in tune (3, or mi if you use solfege), and that just took frequent check-ins with the piano and the critical ear of my teacher telling me "you're flat!" when I thought I was in tune.
