Hi, I'm Amelia and a complete beginner to singing. I started with the beginner 1 course but I don't fully understand the breathing for singing. How do you hold a long note without breathing? How do you take a breath when there hardly any time to breath while singing?  Thank you!

Great question, Amelia! The key to taking a good-sized breath in a short amount of time is to relax your belly muscles and breathe with an open mouth (rather than your nose). Please see below for more on breathing and sustaining notes for a long time:

Thank you! Those videos were helpful. Another question on breathing, when I sing a long note  or a long phrase, I lose breath very quick and then my singing sounds forced even though I do my best to take enough breath before a phrase or note, control the exhale and the other factors like having good posture  but I don't fully understand how to control the exhale while singing?

Glad they were helpful! We control our exhale through our abdominal engagement and vocal fold closure. Please see here for more:
