He explained that belting is essentially controlled shouting or hollar.
1. What are the differences between hollar, belt and shout?
2. Does 'controlled shouting' means that it is the exact same thing as shout, but with added support?
3. What did he meant by 'controlled'?
Thanks in advance! :D
Have a great day!

1. Holler and shout are spoken, while belt is sung.
2 + 3. There is some shout quality to belting, but we control the sound primarily through vowel modification (singing in more of an UH mouth shape rather than a wide HEY or YEAH mouth shape). The problem with yelling is that it's high-stress, only good for short bursts, and tends to engage extra muscles that we don't need.
Here's a live lesson I gave on the fundamentals of belting - hopefully it helps answer some of those questions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQo4shUDk7Y
