Hi
I am thinking of doing an audition and it requires to submit in a youtube video. I would appreciate some advice on what recording materials that would be good for recording the singing video? Would recordings from a computer be sufficient?
Thanks

Hi, Sam! I've submitted phone recordings for auditions before. In my experience, phones usually have better mics than laptops do. But look up the specs on what you have, and do a test to compare audio quality!
Other things to keep in mind:
1. Room noise: record in a quiet room, with no rumbling from traffic outside or the hum of a fridge/air conditioning.
2. Proximity: 8-12 inches away is ideal for sound quality; you may need to have it a little further for video to not be too zoomed-in, though.
3. Volume control: try to keep your volume somewhat consistent so your audio doesn't peak and distort (and so that you're heard on quieter sections). Get a good balance with the instrument or track you're using (if you're using one).
