Often when I'm singing in chest voice and it's sometimes not belted, my sound goes to my throat. How can I prevent that from from happening?

Keeping your jaw relaxed and using your low body for support are the two best ways (in my opinion) to avoid your throat getting too involved!

Gavin, don't worry. That is actually very common for the voice to fall back in throat when
you are singing. Yes make sure you are getting good Breathe support but also focus your Onset. Also use
this visual of thinking of the sound or note starting at the top of your forehead and coming down though your forehead. Utlizing the facial mask when we sing helps control that as well. When you sing the first word in a lyric of a song, eaagerate the annuication of that first word as to keep the sound in top part of your cheeks. It helps keep the sound from falling back in your throat. Hope some of these tips help. Love your enthusiasm! Keep it up!
