Choosing a beginner course

Hello, I was wondering if the beginner courses by Jonathan Estabrooks and Jon Statham were made specifically for male singers. And if the beginner course by Camille van Niekerk was made specifically for female singers. Should your gender influence your decision on which beginner course to take? Thank you.

My course and Jonathan Estabrooks' are similar - same outline and topics covered. Jonathan Statham uses a different outline geared more toward instrumentalists (singing different scales, etc). I do think it's helpful to hear an instructor demonstrate in your range (which you'll get if you're a soprano or alto following my course, or a tenor or bass following either Jonathan or Jon's).

My problem is that I believe I am in the middle pf soprano or alto and tenor or bass. I can't hit the low notes in Jonathan's course and I can't hit the high notes in your course. What should I do about that?

    Have you determined your range?

Start by reading this article I wrote on finding your range + voice type: https://www.30daysinger.com/blog/finding-your-vocal-range.

You can also use the "find my range" tool on this site: http://www.myvocalrange.com/yourvocalrange.php and check that you're singing in tune using https://tuner.ninja/.

SingSharp (for iOS and Android) also has a range finder function with a chromatic tuner built in: https://www.singsharpapp.com/.
