Hi Camille,
My throat tends to tighten up the higher I sing making it uncomfortable to change optic ranges. I am new to this. Any tips? Thank you!

Yes! Try singing on a "cuckoo clock" sound - that will help you find an easy head voice coordination.
You can also try singing with a "dopey" tone to lower the larynx (making it unlikely that the muscles in your throat will tense up). A good example of "dopey" tone would be Patrick Star from SpongeBob, or Yogi Bear. You can also look for "dopey mum" in my beginner course. Good luck!
