So I have been singing in Church (Greek Orthodox) for the last year and a half. I really enjoy it but have never had any singing lessons. Honestly, I would not even sing happy birthday at a party until just recently. I had always thought of myself as "tone deaf." I am actually not that bad. I am like a bass or baritone. The issue is, we all sing on the same pitch. The directer pitches different hymns in different places depedning on how warmed up we are, how many women are singing with us, etc. I do want to learn to confidently sing higher notes. We practice once a week for about an hour. Because I have never had vocal training, should I just begin with Beggining Level I?
Thanks,
Jeremy

Hello! I used to be an intermediate singer myself, or at least I considered myself to be, until I noticed i get off tune and then spiral down from there. I never had professional training so I resorted to random tutorials on youtube. I honestly improved at some parts of my singing but I still couldnt detect how else I lacked in skill and why I cant hit the right notes or match pitch during band practice. That's when I tried all the courses here from the very beginning (Beginner course level 1 and 2, and then practising vocal health courses, along with the techniques). After all the improvement and confidence I gained from the courses here (which I now use to perform in gigs), I could really say that knowing and understanding the basic fundamentals of singing is crucial in order to hone our singing skill massively. Good luck!
