Hi! I'm a total beginner who can barely sing in tune and doesn't know anything about music theory, I was just wondering what are the benefits of ear training? I keep seeing it being recommended to be part of your daily practice.
I downloaded one app for ear training and it's mostly music theory with super new terms I'm very unfamiliar with. (Perfect Unison, Major/Minor 3rd/4th/5th, Intervals)
I kinda get the part with the tuner and the virtual piano. You have to do it to recognize a note/pitch and try to accurately match it, aside from that are there any other reasons/benefits from ear training?

Hi, Japhet! The benefit is that you learn to sing in tune and have the ability to learn melodies quicker. With one-on-one lessons, a teacher gives you feedback on your pitch accuracy. With online lessons, we have to account for that component with a chromatic tuner/app. Please see below for an article with more explanation and some app recommendations!
