Hi Camille. I notice you do alot of the lip trills and lip rolls. I haven't figure that out yet. Could it be cause I have no teeth? Do you think that could cause problems with singing or does it matter? And you say to have confidence singing. Well since I had to get all my teeth extracted due to serious health issues. I been having confidence issues. Is there anyway or any advice on how I could get a confidence boost with my situation? Is there anything I could do to get pass this. I tried dentures but the dentist couldn't get them to fit right and suggest dental implants but they are just so expensive. Any advice would be appreciated? Thanks.

Hi, Jenny! That will affect the way you pronounce your consonants, but I don't think it should affect your tone  on vowels! See here for my answer on an alternative to lip trills (straw phonation).

As for confidence when singing, I want you to know that every singer (even extremely talented, experienced ones) aren't totally confident with their voices. We've all got something to "work around". As you gain more experience singing without teeth, I think you'll learn what works for you and what doesn't. And if singing brings you joy, it's worth doing.

Hi. Camille thanks. And about the lip trills when you do them then that's when I should do the straw phonation? Is that correct. And yes singing is everything to me. It has always been my dream career is to become a country music singer and songwriter. It's just life didn't go the way I wanted it. I been through alot. It's either health or financial issues.

Correct - any time I'm doing a lip trill, you can replace it with straw phonation or singing on an MM, NN or NG sound.

Hi Camille. And does it matter what kind of straw to use?

I just use a regular-sized drinking straw, but you can use a larger diameter for less air resistance and smaller for more air resistance.
