Learn a Song

I would like to learn a fun upbeat song to sing at my local hipster bar karaoke. Maybe rock or riot grrl. One that comes to mind is I Love Rock n Roll by Joan Jett. Other suggestions are welcome too.

The mezzo-soprano range is very comfortable for me. I was able to sing E3 through G5 without much effort, but the tone quality wasn't great at the edges.

I did some searching and found a really useful site: http://www.myvocalrange.com/. You input your range, preferred time period, genre, etc - and it gives you a bunch of songs fitting those criteria. 

Once you've found a handful of songs you like, sing along with the originals and see which song is the most comfortable fit! More than just range, you'll want to consider tessitura (where does the song's melody "sit" in your voice?) and registration (does it require belting, and are you able to do that healthily without straining?).
